Maya Checkup

We made it to Mayas 18 month appointment this last week (she will be 20 months on the 25th).

The doctor said that she is very healthy, and growing normally.

She is 33.7" (2ft 9.7in)     85%
She weighs 25 lbs             49%
and her head is now 46.6cm  39%


We are done with shots until she is 4 or 5!!!  Great news.

We will make another appointment for her 3rd birthday. 

August-November

Maya has grown so much in the last 4 months.

• She has such a cute little personality that shines through in a different way everyday. 
  
• She will run up and down the hall laughing and laughing, waiting for us to chase her, then look back with a mischievous smile.
• She has a fake laugh, and when she is trying to make us smile, she will use this fake laugh (just like Dan).
• She loves to climb, and jump. She will climb on the couch and wait for me to grab her hand so she can jump off. She will do this over and over.
• She is a happy child. She loves to laugh and smile. It doesn't take much to make this happen. 
  We went to the lake many times with family and friends
  
  
  
   
• She is talking so much now. She will repeat almost everything we say.
• She loves keys she wants to unlock all car doors or the mail box. She will ask for my keys and will run to the car.
• She always says “Thank you” and most of the time “please”.
• She loves to help. She will sweep the floor, put stuff in the garbage and put her toys away.
• She likes to push things shopping carts, the lawn mower and her bike
  
  
  
  
• We have taken away her binkey during the day. She knows when she wakes up that the binkey stays in her crib. Sometimes she will sneak back in and suck on it for a while.
• She can identify most of our family members through pictures.
• She loves playing with balls, kicking, throwing, bouncing... She has a great arm. 
  
   
• She is a screamer.
• She sometimes will inform us when she needs her bum changed. She will either point to the changing table, or just lye down with her new diaper in hand.
• She loves 2 movies. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (she calls “Mo Mo” - why we don't know) and Baby Einstein (calls “baby”).
• We are trying to teach her to count to 3. She knows that when we reach “three” she gets tickled, so I'll start with “one” and she jumps to “three” 
  • She was Darth Vader for Halloween.

She would say "candy" instead of Trick-or-treat

We love our little angle, and have enjoyed seeing her grow. This is a fun stage, as she is learning and experiencing so much.

April-July 2011

Maya is now 15 months old. She is learning something new everyday. It is so fun to see and hear her experience new things.

• Maya was a speed crawler, I have never seen a baby crawl so fast.
• Started Walking on June 17, 2010 – She is now all but running
• 
  She will play “Five” with us.
• She does “Pat-Pat” where she will pat our backs (like a hug)
• She loves to empty and fill anything. Baskets, shelfs, cabinets, etc.
• Loves to eat coins (mom and dad don't like it) or anything medal
• Loves to brush her teeth, which she has 11 all the way in an the 4 I-teeth are all coming in. Maya has never got one tooth at a time. The least was 2 at once, the most was 5 in a week, with the 6^th a week later.
• We went to the Dr for her 15 moth appointment:
  • Weight: 22 lbs, 13 oz
  • Height: 30.5”
• Dr says she is healthy and growing continually
• She taught herself what dogs say. She loves dogs (from a distance) one day she heard one barking and made the woof woof noise... So cute. We are now working on other animal sounds (cat, cow, horse...)
• If you ask her, she can tell you where her nose, belly button, toes, eyes and ears are. She can almost tell where mommy and daddy's are too.
• She dances with any music (or no music). She likes to shake those Latin hips 
• She is a smart girl. We were sitting at the table, and she was pointing to the juice, but we wanted her to eat her food, she was very insistent, she would point to the cup of water, so we knew that she wanted something to drink then point to the juice, no mistaking what she wanted.

  She is a lover of ice. This was one of her first words. “Ice” She normally wants the ice more than the drink.
• She LOVES to read books. Turning pages, and hearing stories... She can do it all day long.

• In May Maya and I went to Arizona to visit “Nana” (Maya’s great grandma). This was her first plane ride. She was great!

• Maya's favorite toy is her bike. Whenever we go outside she wants to climb onto the bike and go for a ride,
• She will give kisses. She puckers her lips and says muu- ah.
• She is copying many noises and sounds that we make. Words or sounds.
• She says hello to every car that passes by.

Our lives revolve around our little angel and she makes us so happy. We can't even remember our lives without her. We are so grateful for her and thank God constantly for her in our lives.

Maya 1 year

March 2011

Wow a year has gone by and we are so blessed, and grateful that we have had Maya in our home. We both agree that this has been the best year of our lives. We have never been happier and that has everything to do with the little angel in our home. She is always laughing and loves to play, you can't help be happy in her presence.

For her birthday we took her out to eat (she loves mashed potatoes). Then we went to a swimming pool, with lots of toys for kids, she loves swimming. The next day we got together as a family and she got lots of toys.

Her favorite toy that she has gotten recently is a little tricycle with a big handle in the back that we can use to steer her around she could do this all day if we let her. She even knows how to use the little bell. Now whenever we walk out into the garage she points at it, wanting to go for a ride.

We went to Maya's 12 month doctor's appointment. She is right on track.

Fun things Maya has done this month.

* She has started saying words. Mom, Dad, Hi, Ohh, Ya, and No

* She has been holding on to things and walking next to things

* She will sometimes let go of what she is holding onto it for just a second, until she realizes she has let go.

* She is a smart girl... She will bring us a book and hold it until we read it to her

* She will bring me the cell phone and hold it out until I call Dan to talk with him

* We got her a soccer ball for her birthday, and loves to play with it. She will roll and throw it, and chase after the ball.

* She is a speed crawler, so fast that I look away for just a moment and she is gone...

* She points at everything especially when she wants to eat or play with something

* She knows where her “treats” are and will point to the cupboard and grunt until she gets one.

* We have been teaching her some sign language. She can say all done, more and eat/water.

* She will now give her dolls a hug.

* She has a glow worm. We have put it in her crib, at night and in the morning she will press the button to hear the lullabies.

* She is really good at taking everything out of her diaper bag and throwing it everywhere

* Her favorite game right now it to have something in both hands and throw it on the floor, especially her food when she is done eating.
