Our little angel is now 11 months old. We are so excited that she is almost a whole year old. We can't believe it's been that long. We are also amazed at how big she is now and how much she can understand. She just loves to play and now she can understand a lot more games.

We also love how mobile she is, even though now she makes little messes all over. We don't mind though we just love that little mess maker.

 

Here are some other fun things she does:

• She has learned about pointing. She will look at something we are pointing to, and will point at things she wants, or where she wants to go.
• She loves to share. She will try handing something to you, and then pull back. Sometimes she will let you take it, but insist it back right away.
• She is a girl who knows what she wants. When eating she will throw the food she doesn't want either into a separate pile, or onto the floor (that's fun :)).
• At the beginning of the month she would kneel while holding onto things, now she will stand while holding onto the couch, and will even move towards stuff, that isn't too far away.
• She will grab onto something in both hands and throw them to the sides, at the same time.
• She is so interested in her books, she will look at them herself, but sometimes will bring them to us to read to her. She will even climb onto out laps to listen. She turns the pages for us (sometimes fast, and sometimes slow)
• She loves to eat her veggies, especially broccoli, squash and carrots
• She is a “talker” she always has something to say, either to us, or to herself.
• Tonight she found the treats in her bag, and brought them to me to have me open and give her some. SUPER CUTE
• She is a mover, she can crawl SO fast. In a blink of an eye she is all the way across the house.

January 2011

January is over, time fly's so fast. Little Maya is now 10 months old. She is learning in leaps and bounds. 

Fun things Maya does:

• She is crawling all around, everyday she gets faster and faster, as much as I love to see her crawling, I miss the scoot and sit that she became so good at. 

• She follows us from room to room, we say “Maya come here” and she follows
• When I say “Yeah Maya”, She will clap her hands, without prompting
• She waves her arm, when we say “Bye, Bye”.
• She is starting to get used to routines, going to bed, or eating routines.
• She will lift her arms when she wants to be held. (she has been doing this for a while, but now is a champ)
• I took her to a swimming pool for the first time with aunts and cousins, she has so much fun, and fell right to sleep when we got back in the car

• She had her first cold this month. She hasn't been sick before, and is still fighting the runny nose.
• She recognizes the different tones of voices. When I say no, or am happy, or sad.
• We have been trying to teach her some sign language, and I think she can now say “all done” with her hands.
• Dan taught Maya when she pinches his nose he would make a “honk” noise, now out of the blue she will pinch one of our noses, and waits for the “honk”.
• Maya raises her hands way above her head, and loves to be tickled
• She loves to have her head rubbed and hair played with
• Her hair is getting so long that I can put piggy tails in it. I will do either 1 in the middle, or two, one on each side. It is also starting to have some curls.
• When either Dan or I are lying on the ground, Maya can't help herself, and needs to be crawling all over us. She laughs and laughs.
• She still has only 8 teeth, but they are coming in fast. She loves to have me brush her teeth every night.
• Last night I hid something behind my back, and she looked for it, she hasn’t done this before.

We can’t believe that life could bring so many blessings and joy in such a short amount of time. We truly are humbled to have Maya and you in our lives.

December 2010

December flew by so quickly. It was so much fun starting so many new traditions and continuing on with old with our little family.

We went to Maya’s 9 Month appointment this week. She is now:
28 ¾” long
19 lbs 10 oz
Her head is 44.1 CM.

Fun new things Maya has started or is improving this month.
* Within 2 weeks she had 6 new teeth, all four on top and 2 new on the bottom, amazingly enough, she was a little upset, but didn't get sick.

* She has become better at communicating with us. We can now tell if she wants more, or is done
* She got her first cold this week. For as miserable as she has been, she still smiles and laughs.
* She loves picking up and eating canned green beans.

* She is now starting to crawl; she is very good at going backwards but a little slower on the forward motion.
* She can roll all over the room now.
* She loves making loud noises, she particularly likes to bang glass together.
* She is now eating some food on her own, her finger dexterity is getting better.
* She loves to roll or crawl backward to cabinets and throw everything on to the floor.
* She love to rip and eat paper when we aren't looking
* She has finally gotten to the stage where she knows when she shouldn't be doing something and so she is really quite when she's doing something she knows she shouldn't
* She loves to clap her hands, she doesn't make much noise, but she sure loves doing it.

December 2010

This year Dan and I have a lot to be grateful for.

First the most important: Maya Lucia, how grateful we are to have her in our family. She brings such a wonderful spirit to our home. She was born on March 25, 2010 in Bakersfield CA. We were there to pick her up from the hospital and able to meet and talk with her birth-parents for many hours. How grateful we are to them for their selflessness. They are amazing and generous, we have nothing but wonderful things to tell Maya as she grows.

 What a blessing Maya is in our family. She teaches us something new everyday. What a great kid! She is now 9 months old, and we can't imagine life without her. She is a talker, she loves to make any noise she can. She is always wanting to smile, the smallest things make her laugh. She is rolling all over the place. She now has 7 teeth (5 are currently making their way in).

In September we were able to finalize our adoption, and were sealed in the temple for time and eternity 2 days later. How grateful we are to have temples and the knowledge we do regarding forever families.

October 1, 2010 - She is ours Forever!!

We are grateful for our jobs and all they provide for our family. Dan is working part time and is a full time dad. He is able to work from home, and take her into the office when needed. I work full time in sales for a wonderful company and enjoy what I do. They have blessed our lives more than I can tell.

This month Dan and I celebrate our 10^th wedding anniversary. What more can I say... Time fly's when your having fun. We are so grateful for the love we share and the commitment we have to each other and our family.

We are so grateful to all of our family and friends who have helped us this year. We have had an abundance of love and support from so many different people.
