Maya - July 4th

Maya has been laughing for a few weeks now, but only when we tickle or bounce her. 

The other day we were outside with the neighbors, and their 3 year old boy.  He was running around and jumping, and apparently Maya thought it was the greatest thing.  She started laughing all on her own.  It wasn't just a giggle, it was full on laughing.  HOW CUTE!!

She has also started holding onto her bottle, but only for a few seconds.  I think that in the next few weeks she will be holding it all on her own.  I keep trying to get pics of it, but as soon as I get the camera out, she has no interest in "posing" for me.

We have received a lot of comments oh how much Dan and Maya look alike.  Just so happens that I have an outfit that Dan wore taking some pictures...  What do you think?

Maya - June

It's finally summer and we are so excited. Little Maya loves being outside especially when there is a little breeze.

Maya is so curious about the world. She wakes up in the morning smiling. She is so excited about everything new.

Maya is so peaceful, she is a quite and smiley baby. She normally cries only when hungry and her default mood is happy. We are trying to teach her sign language and her abue (abuelita) speaks to her in spanish and sign language at the same time.

NEW THINGS:

• Our favorite new thing that Maya does this month is giggles. She smiles a lot, but it is exceptionally fun to hear her laugh.
• She loves when we touch her chubby cheeks.
• She really likes to hold fabrics. Any blanket or burp cloth that is placed in front of her she will grab onto and hold them up to her face.
• She has started also grabbing hair.
• She has the cutest double chin.
• Because she likes kicking so much we bought a little play gym where she lays on her back and kicks a little butterfly that sounds like a chime. She love it and can do it for more than an hour.

June fun...

This month was again filled with lots of firsts...

First time helping Mommy in the yard...

First laugh...

Maya laughed for the first time yesterday.  She has the cutest little laugh. I have video on my phone, and am trying to figure out how to get it from my phone to here...

I'll do it, but it may take me a day or so.

Second installment of the cutest things Maya does.

• She has found her mouth, and can put almost her whole fist into it. She likes discovering things to put into her mouth.
• She has a strong grip and loves to hold our fingers, especially when she is eating.
• We went to the Dr this week for her 2 month check-up, she got her first shots (so sad). The Dr. says she’s healthy, and looks happy. He said “you have a perfect baby”. We agreed.
• She now weighs 11 lbs 6 oz (75th percentile), and is 22.5” long (91^st percentile).
• She is starting to recognize when we are in the room, and will turn towards us when we talk to her.
• She will focus on objects. She loves staring at the lights and will follow them when we are walking around with her.
• She has started sleeping more through the night and actually slept 5 hours straight last night (we are very happy about that).
• My Favorite, she has started responding to us with a smile. You can tell when she is happy and loving life.
• She also love to kick and she will spend 30 min to a hour just kicking and kicking in the air. Sure to be a great soccer player.

Shots...  Not her favorite thing.  But we got cute my little pony band-aid's.
